On January 19th, staff at Virginia Agency took part in the traditional Orthodox Christian Epiphany celebrations.
On this night, the clergy and followers go in a Crucession (procession with the Cross) to the nearest body of water, be it a beach, harbour, river or lake. There the priest will bless the waters and the followers will proceed to take a dip to purify themselves.˙
The Orthodox Church teaches that Epiphany Water differs from regular holy water in that with Epiphany Water, the very nature of the water is changed and becomes incorrupt, a miracle attested to as early as St. John Chrysostom.
We, at the Virginia Agency, feel honoured to have taken part in such a holy celebration and endeavour to continue to stay pure and clean.
