The Halloween party was held on a grand scale. For two hours quests were being scared by sounds of horrible evil laughter and howling. Halloween scenes from Harry Potter were shown, and puzzles were solved.
The biggest hit of the party was the cooking of a magic potion in the Witch's Restaurant. We were offered the ingredients (a dead man's ears, maggots, dried snakes' tails etc) and a recipe. The final outcome was a powerful mixture of fear and excitement that made us scream with terror and laugh at the same time.
In the next room, a story of a dead man was being told. The parts of his body were found in different corners of the cemetery. Different parts were offered to the participants to feel (with their eyes closed). The disgust was quite natural and perfectly suitable for Halloween night. Certainly, many a camp councilor has tried this form of entertainment with the kids - now we have had a feel of it too.
How about answering questions about a place you had recently been to (like Count Dracula's Castle)? Especially if you take into consideration that you do not know what place it was (someone is keeping a sign over your head so that you cannot see it, unlike the others). Or telling stories about walking through the cemetery at night? All these and other party games took us back to a time when we were children.
It was very exciting, and many of the quests admitted that they had this much fun in ages. There was also a Best Costume competition and the Best Halloween Drawing contest.
Special thanks go to Marina and Elena, our inventive teachers, whose inspiration and hard work made this holiday a ghoulishly good time for all.
